DAYTON–Coming back from winter break put us back in the swing of things. Basketball, wrestling, cheerleading, and planning ski trips were top of the agenda.
Two high school home basketball games happened during the break; one on Saturday, January 6 against Oakesdale, with a "Sparkle & Glitter" theme, and Tuesday, January 9 against McLoughlin with a "Dynamic Duo" themed game. These girls' and boys' teams have been working hard and progressing even more throughout each match, with the winter cheerleaders behind them cheering them on. The wrestling team have also been practicing and working hard toward their matches.
This coming week, there are three home games, Jan 16, 19, and 20. The Tuesday, January 16 game our teams will play against Prescott, the "Snowball (White Out)" themed game. JV boys will play at 4:30 p.m., Varsity girls at 6 p.m., and Varsity boys at 7:30 p.m.
On Friday, January 19, the DHS basketball teams will play against Garfield Palouse during the "Wacky Night Out" themed game. JV boys will play at 4:30 p.m., Varsity girls at 6 p.m., and Varsity boys at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, January 20, the DHS boys' teams will play against St. John during the "Construction" themed game. JV boys will play at 4 p.m., and Varsity boys will play at 5:30 p.m.
The end of the semester is fast approaching, as it ends on January 24. So, the DHS Associated Student Body (ASB) has been actively working beside the Outdoors Club in planning a ski trip for students. The end of semester ski trip at Bluewood will take place on Thursday, January 25. The ASB will provide payment to students who need rentals, lessons, and lift tickets.
For students not participating in the end-of-semester ski trip, they may enjoy themselves in the student lounge where snacks, purchased by the Outdoors Club, games and other activities will be available.
