Grant funds two-way radios for school

DAYTON–A nearly $30,000 grant will mean staff at the Dayton School District will have real-time communication for improved supervision and increased response time in case of emergency situations thanks to the two-way radios the grant will provide.

Dayton School District was awarded the Wildhorse Foundation Grant in the amount of $29,997.00, the school announced February 9, 2024.

A recent agreement was signed with the I Love U Guys Foundation (iloveuguys.org) that will allow Dayton Schools to begin using its Standard Response Program materials, according to a news release. The program has educational materials, emergency-response directives and core actions to be used by staff in emergency situations. The addition of two-way radios will increase the effectiveness of the program and offer a centralized communication platform for staff that doesn't rely on VOIP telephone service or cell phones.

The Wildhorse Foundation is one of many grants being written by Jana Eaton and Suzi Tasker at the District Office. Grants are one way the district team is working to supplement the financial needs at the school.
