Sprinter Iwamoto leads Bulldog thinclads at big Oregon meet

UMATILLA–Bulldog sprinter Hikaru Iwamoto finished fourth in the 200m. dash and sixth in the 100m. dash to lead Dayton athletes at a big meet with 17 schools here April 12. The team placed 15 th with nine points, and the Waitsburg team was 11 th with 19 points.

Dayton competed April 16 in Clarkston and will be in the McDougall Invitational in Colfax Saturday.

Iwamoto set a new personal best with a 23.99 time in the 200, and an 11.58 time in the 100.

The 4X100 Relay team of Tristan Rennaker, Solomon Brenner, Hikaru Iwamoto, Luke Winkler scored with an eighth-place finish in 48.37.

Waitsburg's best finish was Reuben Yutzy's 42-7 shot put for third. Yutzy and Teegan Kenney each finished fifth in events, Yutzy clearing 5-8 in the high jump and Kenney 18-11 in the long jump. Yutzy also was seventh in the discus with 115-0, and Kenney eighth in the 200m.

Best finish for the Waitsburg women was Makenna Barron's 4-2 in the high jump.
