The Lady Bulldogs are in the thick of things as the SE 1B Wheat Division No. 2 team, and will play at 3 p.m. on May 7 at Liberty Christian's field. Battling with the Lady Dawgs will be Marissa Tupling (7), here connecting with a pitch in action from last week's game against the Pomeroy Pirates.

DAYTON–Wheat Division No. 2 Lady Bulldogs will take on Grape Division No. 3 Sunnyside Christian Tuesday, May 7 at Liberty Christian’s field in Richland, first pitch at 3 p.m. as the Lady Dawgs vie for further SE 1B Fast-pitch softball post-season play in this first year back as the Dayton Lady Bulldogs for a number of years.
Winner of the contest gets to take on Grape Division No. 1 Liberty Christian later that same day.
At Colton that same day, Grape No. 2 DeSales faces Wheat No. 2 Tekoa-Rosalia in a 3 p.m. game, then will face Wheat No. 1 Colton.
The Lady Dawgs wrapped the season with a drubbing of Tekoa-Rosalia 22-12 in the first game then rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 10-9 walk-off win on a Peyton Benavides double. “The girls had to really dig deep for this win,” commented Head Coach Carly Fabian. “Benavides and the rest of the freshmen are shining.”
The team tuned up for the post season with a non-league double header at Mac-Hi April 24, losing 10-0 and 8-5. Mac-Hi’s pitcher challenged Dayton batters, Fabian said. “The girls learned and showed immediate improvement.”
In the nightcap, Dayton scored early but then struggled offensively. Fabian praised shortstop Kam Tupling who snagged a beautiful double play.
