Women's water aerobics classes have started at the Dayton City Pool and are held weekdays at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. with the cost of $3.00 per session.

Join the Dayton Swim Team is a great way for kids ages 5-18 to spend their summer vacation. Swim Team is challenging but it is also a great way to teach kids sportsmanship and the right way to win and the right way to lose.

The Fifth anniversary of All Wheels Weekend, included an anniversary commemorative key chain for all contestants. The organizers have added a special farmer-oriented class to Show and Shine with old farm tractors on display, an Elvis concert, Demo Derby, the "Kingpins" will provide the show and dance music.

June 20, 1974

FFA Books Place–Though the Selection Committee at the state convention in Pullman placed the Dayton books in advanced sections, the Dayton chapter placed three winners in the state total of eight to demonstrate. Sandra Gibbons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gibbons, placed first in the Junior division, Linda Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thompson, placed first Senior Division, and Lorrie Oliver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Oliver, place third in the Senior Division.

Russell Brothers in Hawaii. E/M Carl D. Russell, sons of Harold and Lila Russell, completed his Navy electricians school, assigned to USS Brewton, a destroyer escort in Pearl Harbor. His older brother ETN2 C.L. (Kip) Russell, is on Oahu at Wheeler Air Force Base.

Eleven cases of Chickenpox and 146 cases of Epidemic Respiratory Influenza and Influenza were reported in Columbia County for the month of April.

Benjamin John Trunk, born June 17, will claim the prizes from the Columbia County Cowbells in their annual Father's Day Contest. Mr. Russell Trunk is employed by The Green Giant Company.

The Dayton Rotary Club received its charter from Rotary International, presented by the District Governor Alfred W. Carlson of Spokane to Al Richter, new president of the Dayton club. Over 200 club members, wives and friends celebrated the occasion with a big dinner featuring fresh peas grown in the district.

The Broughton National Bank of Dayton is celebrating its 40th anniversary this month. The bank was issued a charter June 16, 1909, opening its doors for business June 23, with one of its depositors the late Harry Moe. The organizers were the late C.J. Broughton, Sr., A.P. Cahill, J.L. Dumas, John Blessinger, W.E. Cahill, David Barclay, J.A. Anderson and Miles C. Moore of Walla Walla, and S. Z Varnes.

Game Protector W. A. Wooten report that the state game commission has done away with the coyote bounty as if June 30. Bounties in magpie, crows, ravens, and bobcats have not been changed at 10 cents each, bobcat is $5, and cougars is $75.

Prizes were awarded to Carl Rowe, Harley Literal, Loren Carson, Roger Morris, John Stedman, Gerald Howard and Gerald Magill for outstanding work in manual training by Instructor Walter Merzger, at an awards assembly at Dayton High School.

Some of the most common articles are the most useful ones, one of the most common is borax which uses are many and various. As a destroyer of insects when scattered around the entrances and as an excellent disinfectant.

Minneapolis June 12---Devastated by a Cyclone, several Minnesota Towns Swept off the Face of the Earth. It carried ruin and death in its path and at this hour it is impossible to give even a partial list of those seriously injured and dead. The news of the disaster was brought here by J. A. Carrroll, a traveling man from Portage, Wis. who was stopping at the Nicollet House in New Richmond when the cyclone struck?
