Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann Buerk, 86, of Dayton, Wash., passed away August 4, 2024, at the Rivers Walk Assisted Living in Dayton, Wash.
Elizabeth was born July 15, 1938, in Seattle, Wash., to Don and Muriel (Burdick) Rennewanz. The family moved to Los Angeles, Calif., when Betsy was older and she graduated from high school there.
Betsy met and married Bob Boone while in California and they returned to Seattle after their daughter Kathy was born. They later divorced and Betsy moved back to Dayton to be with family. She attended college in Spokane taking business management courses.
While living in Dayton she met and married Bob Lamb. Bob was in the Army and he was stationed in Germany where they lived for a year before returning to Dayton. They had a daughter Cherie. Betsy and Bob would later divorce.
Betsy then met Ted Buerk from Beaverton, Ore., who visited Dayton often to hunt. She and Ted married and moved to Washougal, Wash. Betsy did bookkeeping to help with Ted's Gift Line business. They later moved to Vancouver. Ted had two sons, Jake, and Josh, who Betsy cared very much for even after her divorce from their father.
Betsy then started working at Nordstrom Department Store in sales until her retirement and spent many more years in Vancouver enjoying retirement, often shopping, and going out to lunch with her best friend.
Betsy returned to Dayton in 2021 due to health issues and wanting to spend time with family. Spending time with her grandchildren was very important to Betsy. She was always saying her grandchildren were the best, and she was as important to them also, saying she was the best Grandma.
Betsy was a member of the Dayton Congregational Church and enjoyed time with friends and was always a social person.
Betsy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bill Rennewanz.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Don) Norris, Cherie (Andy) Chapman; two stepchildren Jake Buerk and Josh (Wendy) Buerk; three grandchildren Isaiah (Brianne) Dean, Jason (Krystal) Norris and Emily (Adam) Uptegrove; five step grandchildren Abby, Ally, Olivia, Noah, and Sarah; three great-grandchildren Kade, Brooklyn and Rhett; and one great step-grandchild ,Andy.
The memorial service will be held at the Dayton Congregational Church on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Dayton Cemetery, with the reception back at the church afterward.
