DAYTON–A USDA program to provide low-interest physical-loss loans to producers located primarily to 26 Oregon counties is also available to Columbia County producers, if eligible.
Physical loss loans through the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) can help producers repair or replace damaged or destroyed physical property essential to the success of the agricultural operation, including livestock losses. Examples of property commonly affected include essential farm buildings, fixtures to real estate, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay.
The triggering disaster was wildfires that occurred on July 7, 2024, and continuing. The application deadline is April 14, 2025.
Primary counties eligible include Baker, Douglas, Gilliam, Harney, Jackson, Morrow, Umatilla, Wasco and Wheeler. Contiguous Counties Also Eligible include Oregon counties of Clackamas, Coos, Crook, Curry, Deschutes, Grant, Hood River, Jefferson, Josephine, Klamath, Lake, Lane, Malheur, Marion, Sherman, Union and Wallowa.
In Washington, in addition to Columbia County, the counties of Walla Walla, Benton and Klickitat are included.
