Freidrick (Fred) Alznauer, 74, passed away July 12, 2024 at his home in Dayton surrounded by his family.
Fred was born in Austria on August 31, 1948. His family migrated to the United States in 1955. They lived in Orofino, Idaho, moving to College Place years later.
Fred attended Garrison High and WaHi next. He moved to Dayton in his Junior year summer, finishing high school, graduating with the class of 1967. He enrolled in flight classes in Martin Air Field obtaining a pilot's license. He moved to California where he worked for the City of Glendale, Calif. Fred found a job working for Aero Haven in Big Bear, Calif., flying charter. He also started instructing. He bought the business after his boss retired.
In 1991, he moved back to Dayton, to care for his elderly folks, Rudy, and Karoline. He worked for area trucking companies, and farmers.
He enjoyed camping, nature animals, food, weather, bikes, motorcycles, trucks, and really enjoyed planes.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Karoline, sister Margarite (Arthur) Stubbs, brother Gerhardt (7), baby brother Fritz (1) in Bistritz.
He is survived by his wife Karen, children Sherri (Dustin) Brown, Justin, Timmy (Hanna); grandchildren Brooklyn, Noelle, his sister Doris (Phil Groom) Huwe, nieces Linda Stubbs, great-niece Lauren, niece Gretchen (Jason) Eslick, nephew Cash and Steven Stubbs, great-nephew Tyler and Daniel Huwe.
A celebration of life is planned at the Eagles of Dayton, Sunday September 22 at 2 p.m.
