Lila Marlene Quigg passed away on September 3, 2024, at Dayton General Hospital after a short battle with kidney disease. She was 87 years old.
Lila was born on April 26, 1937, to Walter Ellis and Sarah Ellis (Smith) in Courtland, Kan. The family moved to Seattle during World War II where her father worked in the ship yards. Later, they moved to Asotin where her father worked for Washington Water Power. After graduating from Asotin High School, Lila married Herman Smith on December 2, 1955 in Asotin. In 1959, they welcomed a son, Timothy. The couple divorced August 9, 1960.
On September 16, 1960 ,Lila married David Quigg in Asotin. They lived in Clarkston, where David worked for United Paving, and later operated an American Oil franchise in Clarkston and later in Spokane. The couple later lived in Pullman, Pasco, and Eureka, Wash., eventually ending up in Dayton where David worked for over 17 years for the City of Dayton. David died on January 15, 1997.
Lila enjoyed home making, gardening, tole painting and arts and crafts and hosted many arts and crafts sales from her home through the years.
Lila is survived by her son Timothy Quigg, a grandson Johnathan Quigg, and a great-granddaughter Grace Quigg all of Dayton, a sister Twila Gruell of Clarkston, and brothers Ben Ellis of Clinton, Va., and Bill Ellis of Pullman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband David, and a brother Bud Ellis of Clarkston.
Private graveside family services will be conducted at a later date at Dayton City Cemetery.
