Typographical Error on Columbia County Ballots

DAYTON–The Columbia County Auditor’s Office is notifying voters of a typographical error on the county’s 2024 General Election ballots sent to voters last week. The error, identified by an alert county resident, affects the race for United States Senator, where Republican candidate Dr Raul Garcia is incorrectly listed as “Dr Paul Garcia.”

Columbia County Auditor Will Hutchens reassures voters that their votes will be properly counted. Voters who intend to vote for Dr Raul Garcia may fill in the box next to Dr Paul Garcia or, alternatively, write in “Dr Raul Garcia” on the designated write-in space for that race. Whichever method is chosen, votes will be correctly credited to Dr Raul Garcia.

“We appreciate the voter who brought this to our attention,” said Hutchens. “While we strive for complete accuracy, occasional errors do occur. We apologize for any confusion and will review our ballot creation procedures to ensure this does not happen in the future.”

Voters with additional questions are encouraged to contact the Columbia County Auditor’s Office at 509-382-4541.
