DAYTON–Dayton FFA is off to a strong start this year! Officers for 2024-25 are Raymond Yutzy, President; Jaelynn Chapman, Vice President; Graci Turner, Secretary; Alexa Jones, Treasurer; Gloree Grace, Reporter; Rozlyn Magill, Sentinel; and Byron Collier, Historian. Middle School Representatives are Luke Collier and Lyam Donohue.

The year began with the Columbia County Fair in September with eight members showing and selling livestock, including Beef-Graci Turner and Lyam Donahue; Hogs-Andrew Wertz and Gloree Grace; Goats-Ike Wolther, Rosemary Yutzy and Raymond Yutzy; and Sheep-Anthony Jonas.

Two teams–a total of 11 members–participated in livestock judging and placed second and fourth overall. Our FFA President Raymond Yutzy received Grand Champion Showman in FFA and Columbia County Fair Grand Champion All Around Showman.

The local FFA organization is excited about the establishment of the Dayton FFA Alumni and Supporters group. The first meeting was held last May with 18 members joining. Officers are: Jacob Forsmann, President; Ruth Yutzy, Vice President; Chrissy Forsmann, Secretary; and Mary Ann Walling, Treasurer. The Alumni group has already supported our chapter by providing funding for the National Convention chaperones!

Eight members attended the meeting on September 26 where they agreed on upcoming fundraisers and support options. The next meeting will be November 20 at 6 p.m. Any former FFA members, whether from Dayton or elsewhere, or those interested in supporting our local FFA chapter, are welcome to attend.
