Pastor's Corner

Being protected and secure is important to us. We "lock our doors." We "put on our seatbelts." We "use the handrail." Jesus commended the wise builder for preparing to be safe in severe storms by building his life on obedience to God's Word, Mt. 7: 24-25.

The first step of being safe is to put our trust in the Lord. The Bible teaches that He "overshadows" His people. He is our protective covering. The Bible says, "The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but safety is of the Lord" Prov. 21:31.

The Bible teaches that He is our "hiding place" and that He guards our hearts with His peace that "surpasses all understanding," Philip. 4:7.

Our preparations come to nothing if we aren't trusting the Lord for our security and protection. When threatened by annihilation, Hezekiah took the threatening letter, spread it before the Lord in prayer, and "when the people got up the next morning there were all the dead bodies" (of the invading army), 2 Kings 19.

We are given assurance of safety by the promise of receiving personal salvation through faith in Christ. Even when we are physically damaged or passing through death His presence comforts and assures us. We are safe and secure. "He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him (Jesus), because He always lives to intercede for them" Heb. 7:25.
