DAYTON–This year's fall musical Fiddler on the Roof rehearsals are nearing the end; with over fifty local cast and crew members, this favorite's first performance is November 14.
This year's production of Fiddler on the Roof of over 50 local cast and crew members, tells a story of Tevye, a poor milkman, his wife Golde, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.
Wearing handmade costumes and beautifully staged with hand-painted backdrop, the local troupe will bring to life this rich historical and ethnic detailed story. Fiddler on the Roof's has a universal theme of tradition that cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality, and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy, and sadness.
