DAYTON–Directors of the Columbia County Park and Recreation Pool District (Pool District) will officially begin logistics for building a community swimming pool.
The levy monies collected will assist the District's efforts to meet specific obligations such as architect/engineering professional services; consulting services; legal services; auditor fees; general election expenses; insurance; website; advertising; matching funds; and bookkeeper, payroll tax and office supplies.
The one-year-old Pool District will move forward after voters in Columbia County approved the Operation Excess Levy with a 61.7% approval in the November 5, 2024, General Election.
Voters approved the creation of the unfunded Pool District on November 7, 2023. The board members have been working diligently to set up a functioning, legal municipal entity to pursue funding opportunities through grants, donations and legislative support to revive our pool.
The board pledges to utilize the tax monies in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. The Pool District Board is grateful to have a strong partner with Dayton Friends of the Pool, a non-profit entity assisting the Board with fundraising and implementation of dollars to meet the goal of a community swimming pool for all.
The board are working to ensure an operational facility is built that is within reasonable financial constraints, and that meets the needs of Columbia County and surrounding areas.
