DAYTON–District No. 2 Director Zac Fabian, who has served since 2021, has resigned his post on the Dayton School Board. Fabian submitted his resignation to the School Board at their December 18 regular meeting, citing personal reasons.
The School District is advertising for persons interested in appointment to fill the position, said Supt. Jeremy Wheatley.
In other school news, the Elementary Intervention Team presented to the Board its process. The team tracks, tests and collates foundational reading and math skills for Dayton Elementary students.
Sarah Reser reported on her position as a guidance counselor for seniors in the high school. Each senior is monitored on their progress toward reaching graduation, Reser told the Board.
Her report indicated that nearly 100% of the Class of 2025 is on track to graduate on time. Items kept watch on include grades, community service hours, required testing, and other requirements that must be met to meet graduation requirements.
"For the Board's sake," commented Supt. Wheatley, "it's about highlighting the benefits of a small school, where teachers know students face-to-face, know them by name, and are walking beside them."
