VBRA finishes 62nd year of competition

WALLA WALLA–The Valley Girls Barrel Racing Association (VBRA) close the door on this sixty-second year of competing and promoting barrel racing in the area. Results of the 2024 seasons divisional awards are as follows.

The 1D Champion is Dana Gregg with 92 points, 1D Reserve Champion with 59 is Jackie Lynch, third with 39 is Payden Henry, fourth at 38 is Tricia Sewell, fifth is Nichole Kelly with 15, and sixth place is Michele Lyons at 13.

The 2D Champion with 45 points is Brooke Martin, 2D Reserve Champion at 43 is Sue Ruzieka, third at 42 is Kaylee Breland, fourth with 27 is Julie Williams, fifth at 24 is Madison Kelly, and sixth at 17 is Cindy Taymond.

The 3D Champion with 54 is Kara Hubbard, 3D Reserve Champion is Bobo McMillan at 36, third is Anna Stowers with 27, fourth is Andrea Smith with 21, fifth is Jackie Culham at 21, and sixth is Julie Maney with 18.

The 4D Champion with 39 is Kim Thompson, 4D Reserve Champion with 34 is Tamra Morris, third is Christy Saccamonno with 26, fourth with 25 is Rhonda Miller, and 5th is Melissa Simpson at 23.

5D Champion with 108 points is Dayton's very own Rosie Gallaher, 5D Reserve Champion with 39 is Alissa Johnson, third is Deborah Daniells with 34, and fourth is Jordan Dove at 4.

The Novice Champion is Maryanne Frazier and Designed by Bully with 80 points, Novice Reserve Champion with 75 is Shante Rober and 5M Bugs Dual-Incash, third is Karen Gleason and Jenny Fame at 70, fourth is Brenda Lennox and Endlessly French at 42, fifth is Courtney Frazier and Too Much Cash with 32, and sixth is Jordan Dove and JPD French Drift with 25.

In the Junior Division Champion is Ashlyn Brooks with 99, Reserve Champion is Ella Slusser at 86, third is Dakota Slusser with 67, fourth is Steely Sturza at 51, fifth is Savannah Smith with 43, and sixth is Rylee Stowers at 42.

Winners in each division win a saddle, and the three first year members received buckles. They were Ashlyn Brooks, Junior; Melissa Simpson, Open; and Shante Robert, Novice Horse.

Rosie Gallaher was also presented a buckle for the High Point, and Shirley Dickerson received the Memorial Award.

The VBRA presented two scholarships for 2024 to Emmie Ogden and Preston Frasier. Applications for 2025 will soon be available for 2025.

The Valley Girls directors are currently putting together the race schedule for 2025, four are planned in Dayton. "This entity does not discriminate, we take girls and guys as members," stated Secretary Rosie Gallaher.
