POMEROY––Dayton's Hunter Griffen battled four wrestlers to a fifth-place finish at the Pomeroy Christmas Tournament Saturday, December 28.
Griffen wrestled in the 215-lb. division, first meeting Trell Miles of River View, pinning the Panther at 1:03.
In the quarterfinal, Griffen was pinned by Peyton Cannon of Pomeroy at :41, dropping him into the consolation bracket. There he defeated Pablo Romero-Mora of River View, by fall at :32.
In the Consolation Semi-final, Markus Ellenwood of Clarkston was able to pin Griffen at the :28 mark.
Griffen was to battle R.J. Dreger of Wilbur-Creston in the Fifth-Place Match, but Dreger forfeited, giving Griffen the fifth-place medal.
