HUNTSVILLE–What were you doing when the earth started shaking? Stand in a doorway? Catch a plate scooting off a counter?
"No," said Huntsville resident Ron Groom. "I didn't feel anything."
For Byron and Kim Seney, Huntsville residents, they were miles away at 12:27 p.m. on Friday, January 3. "I didn't feel it," Kim said. "I wasn't home."
Even if you'd been home and felt it, the 1.6 "explosion," as the U.S. Geological Survey terms tremblors that low on the Richter Scale, might have felt like a truck driving by on the road.
But the tremblor did register with the U.S.G.S. as seven kilometers southwest of Dayton, around Huntsville, at a depth of -0.5 kilometers, of 1,640.42 feet below the surface.
